Dr Ruth Forrest has had a multifaceted career, spanning education, research, and leadership. Holding a Doctorate in Philosophy from Dublin City University, she received an award for Academic Excellence in Research.


Her professional portfolio includes a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education, a BSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a recent MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology with Distinction.


Throughout her career, Ruth has demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning. She has engaged in various online courses, enhancing her expertise in diverse fields, from Spirituality and Education to Health Psychology as well as Medicine and the Arts.


In November 2023, she was appointed Vice-President at Longford International College, building on her contributions since June 2019. During this period, she designed, presented, and assessed MSc-level courses, showcasing her expertise in Education Management and Leadership and Sports and Exercise Psychology.


Ruth’s academic journey involves roles such as Dissertation Supervisor on the MEd program at University College Dublin (UCD) and teaching positions at Froebel College of Education and Maynooth University. She is a regular presenter at international education conferences, sharing insights on topics ranging from Drama pedagogy to Intercultural Storytelling. She has presented research at Teacher Education conferences, exploring subjects such as the challenges of School Placement experiences and the role of Arts Education methodologies.


Ruth’s diverse range of dissertations reflects a keen interest in varied topics, from the physical and psychological benefits of sea-swimming during the COVID-19 pandemic to exploring the link between Bipolar Disorder and High Achievers


In her free time, Ruth engages in choral singing. Her daily sea-swimming routine on Inis Mór, Aran Islands, attests to her commitment to well-being. Ruth exemplifies a professional, dedicated to education, research, and personal growth, contributing significantly to her field while maintaining a balanced and enriching life outside of work.
