MSc SPORTS MEDICAL SCIENCE
The Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) curriculum aims to produce doctors and allied healthcare practitioners in supporting two major healthcare areas requiring urgent attention. GET STARTED
Firstly, the need to establish a countrywide competence in the knowledge base and clinical skills to support comprehensive musculoskeletal (MSK) services.
Secondly, the requirement to prescribe ‘Exercise as Medicine’ to promote physical activity [PA] throughout the population – pre-school, school-aged children, adults, those with disabilities and the elderly. In particular, those individuals with underlying co-morbidities and a chronic disease burden.
This SEM MSc will provide an in-depth understanding of exercise medicine’s practical applications in chronic disease states at an individual and population level.

is course is designed for those who work in a healthcare setting, particularly doctors, nurses, physiotherapists etc., who interact with patients. It is particularly intended for those clinicians whose role requires some of the advanced communication and listening skills which are practised by skilled counsellors and psychotherapists.
